Environmental campaign #NoToxicPort
A petition backed by a twitter campaign to convince influencers to back onshore power at a proposed new cruise ship terminal that could - left unchecked - release dangerous toxins into the local area in Greenwich, London. I started the petition three years ago, joining forces with key campaigners and local community groups. Together we managed to convince several politicians to side with us including London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, Jim Fitzpatrick (labour) and Neil Parish (conservative). Though ultimately what won the campaign was the decision of developers Morgan Stanley not to sell the land with planning permission for the port. A decision that was clearly influenced by the sheer number of negative articles we managed to generate in the press.
